Connect Gemini CLI

Updated 2026-10-18

Use gemini mcp add or edit settings.json. The key for a remote server is httpUrl.

Steps

  1. Run the command. The default scope is project; add -s user to use the server everywhere (it is written to ~/.gemini/settings.json).
  2. If you edit the file by hand, use httpUrl, not url, for a remote Streamable HTTP server: url is for the older SSE address.

Configuration

Hosted (recommended)
gemini mcp add -s user --transport http dyscalculia https://mcp.dyscalculia.io/mcp
settings.json (hosted)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dyscalculia": {
      "httpUrl": "https://mcp.dyscalculia.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}
settings.json (local)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dyscalculia": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "dyscalculia-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Check it works

Ask: “Using Dyscalculia.io, what share of school-age children have dyscalculia, and what is the source?” The answer should be about 3 to 6 percent, with the study it comes from and its year.
