Connect Claude Code

Updated 2026-10-18

Add the hosted URL with one command. A local install works too.

Steps

  1. Run the command in a terminal. --scope user makes the server available in all your projects; without it the server only applies to the current project.
  2. claude mcp list should show the server as Connected. Inside Claude Code, /mcp shows the same status.
  3. To share the server with a team, use --scope project: the command writes a .mcp.json file in the project root that you can commit.

Configuration

Hosted (recommended)
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user dyscalculia https://mcp.dyscalculia.io/mcp
Local (npx)
claude mcp add --scope user dyscalculia -- npx -y dyscalculia-mcp
.mcp.json (project)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "dyscalculia": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.dyscalculia.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}
Check / remove
claude mcp list
claude mcp get dyscalculia
claude mcp remove dyscalculia

Check it works

Ask: “Using Dyscalculia.io, what share of school-age children have dyscalculia, and what is the source?” The answer should be about 3 to 6 percent, with the study it comes from and its year.

The -- separates Claude's own options from the command that starts the server. Keep it in the npx line.

Source for the Claude Code syntax: Claude Code: MCP. Client menus and file locations change; if a step no longer matches, follow that page and tell us on GitHub.
